Base pay range

We are looking for a Fitter to work in our metal recycling shredder plant, assisting with maintaining fixed plant and machinery to best practice standards, whilst maintaining production at the highest possible level. Working as part of the Barnsley engineering team, your benefits will include:

• Basic annual earnings circa £40K (Days)
• Basic annual earnings circa £54K (Nights)

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to and assist in the correction of plant breakdowns
• Repair plant machinery and maintain plant facilities, tooling, and equipment
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance, and communicate these to site management
• Provide technical support to site personnel
• Ensure plant availability and production levels are maintained
• Comply with all applicable legislation and company standards
• Perform other duties as reasonably required by the company
• Follow all company policies related to conduct, environmental, health and safety standards

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Mechanical, welding, and fabrication skills and qualifications
• Experience in medium to heavy industry
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and hazard assessment
• Experience working on industrial mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of lubrication principles and techniques
• Working at height, harness, abrasive wheels, lifting, and slinging training desirable
