Job summary

Arriva TrainCare Crewe depot is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform rail vehicle maintenance following the laid down procedures. You will work under the Team Leader, ensuring tasks are completed to time and quality standards.

The role requires a Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, plus hands-on experience with rail vehicles, and the ability to read engineering drawings. A strong commitment to safety and environmental standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with rail vehicle maintenance activities.
• Good understanding of depot operations and ability to interpret drawings.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work as allocated by the Team Leader within set timescales.
• Operate rail vehicles within depot limits and procedures.
• Adhere to safety procedures and documents per VMI and local instruction.
• Sign off work sheets promptly on completion.
• Follow Quality and Environmental procedures.
• Attend safety and technical briefings.
• Undertake Safety Critical Work Regulations assessments under guidance.
• Maintain good housekeeping and standard of cleanliness.
• Use PPE in accordance with Standards and Local Instructions.
• Assist to ensure Rolling Stock availability and reliability targets.
• Maintain compliance with company policies.

The Role

Working in our Crewe depot and reporting into the team leader, you will be responsible for providing maintenance of rail vehicles to the laid down procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work as allocated by the Team Leader / Heavy Maintenance Manager within set timescales and to the recognised standards.
• Operate (drive) rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits, and in accordance with all relevant operating procedures.
• Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI & local instruction.
• Ensure that work sheets are signed off promptly and correctly on completion of work.
• Ensure that the appropriate Quality and Environmental procedures and work instructions are adhered to.
• Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings ensuring that the necessary action is taken on items raised.
• Undertake Safety Critical Work Regulations assessments under the guidance of the Team Leader, taking remedial action where necessary.
• Carry out any duties within level of competence, as requested by the Team Leader / Heavy Maintenance Manager.
• Maintain good housekeeping and standard of cleanliness throughout depot at all times.
• Use of all PPE in accordance with Standards and Local Instructions.
• Assist as directed by Team Leader / Heavy Maintenance Manager to ensure Rolling Stock availability / reliability targets are met.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

What You Bring

• Qualifications – must have a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience – involvement and understanding of rail vehicle maintenance activities
• Knowledge – good understanding of depot operations with the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
