Job summary

Arriva TrainCare is seeking a Heavy Maintenance Fitter to join the Bristol depot. You will install and overhaul rail vehicles, fit floors, panels, seating and interiors, and handle electrical tasks per procedures.

The role requires a Level 3 Engineering qualification and a good understanding of rail-vehicle maintenance, with the ability to read engineering drawings. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00–15:30, with a salary of £40,018.66 per annum.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification required.
  • Experience in rail-vehicle maintenance desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and overhaul of rail vehicles to laid-down standards and procedures.
  • Carry out work allocated by the Service Delivery Leader to recognised standards.
  • Operate rail vehicles, within depot operating limits, in accordance with relevant operating procedures.
  • Ensure safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI and local work instructions.
  • Ensure worksheets are signed off on completion of work.
  • Use correct PPE with standards and local instructions.

The Role

We have some exciting new opportunities to join our Heavy Maintenance team within the Bristol depot to support upcoming projects. Work in this role will vary depending on available projects; general tasks include fitting floors, paneling, seating, tables, windows and doors within the interior of the rolling stock. Electrical tasks may involve the installation and replacement of traction and rolling‑stock components and carrying out modifications in accordance with specified procedures, including the installation and termination of vehicle control wiring harnesses.
