Job summary

Hatched Recruitment Group is recruiting a Fitness Instructor to join Newry, Mourne and Down District Council's Active and Healthy Communities team at the Bridge Centre in Killyleagh. You'll help members of the community get active safely, with expert advice and a friendly, professional service.

This temporary role offers £14.07 per hour (PAYE), 25 hours per week on varied shift patterns, with a starting date of Friday 6 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Recognised Level 2 Gym Instructor or Fitness Instructor qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience carrying out fitness inductions and writing training programmes.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Good awareness of health and safety in a leisure environment.
• Current First Aid certificate, or willingness to gain one.
• Flexibility to work varied shift patterns (early mornings, evenings, weekends).

Responsibilities

• Carry out fitness assessments and gym inductions for new and existing users.
• Design safe, suitable training programmes and keep records.
• Provide feedback and evaluate progress.
• Perform regular safety checks on fitness equipment and the building.
• Deliver excellent customer service, including membership enquiries.
• Administer first aid and record accidents when needed.
• Set up and take down equipment, keep the facility clean.
• Act as keyholder and senior person on site when required.

• Giving users feedback and evaluating their progress
• Carrying out regular safety checks on fitness equipment and the building
• Delivering excellent customer service, including membership enquiries
• Giving first aid and recording accidents when needed
• Setting up and taking down equipment, and keeping the facility clean
• Acting as keyholder and senior person on site when required

What you'll need:
