Job summary

South Norfolk and Broadland Councils are seeking a personable gym instructor to join Long Stratton Leisure Centre, delivering high-standard member service and fitness guidance.

You will supervise the gym, run inductions, deliver E-GYM inductions, and help set up activities across the centre. The role includes greeting members, guiding gym plans, and occasionally instructing classes, depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid L2 gym instructor qualification.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lead circuits and other classes where required (qualification dependent).

Responsibilities

• Supervise the gym area and facilities.
• Undertake gym inductions and gym programmes.
• Deliver E-GYM inductions.
• Set up activities within the centre (badminton, football, fitness classes).
• Instruct classes as required (qualification dependent).
• Assist with centre tours and membership sales.
• Support Front of House at reception and Café.
• Ensure the centre is well run and clean.

Job description

Long Stratton Leisure Centre boasts an 80-station state of the art gym and a 10-station E-GYM, with a studio, café, soft play, multi-functional sports hall and a 9-a-side 3G pitch.

We are looking to welcome a personable individual with a love for fitness and wellbeing to join our hard-working and passionate team, in a role where you will deliver a high standard of service to our members.

This role is highly customer-focused and extremely rewarding as you will play a key part in assisting members with achieving their goals, creating gym plans tailored to these. You will also have the opportunity to instruct classes, creating a fun and motivating environment for our members.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Supervising the gym area
• Undertaking gym inductions and gym programmes
• Delivering E-GYM inductions
• Setting up activities within the centre such as badminton, football, fitness classes etc.
• Instructing classes (wherever necessary and qualification dependent)
• Assisting with centre tours and membership sales
• Assisting the Front of House team at reception and on Café
• Ensuring the centre is well run, clean and ready for business.

About You

You will have a L2 gym instructor qualification, together with excellent customer service and communication skills. With a genuine interest in Fitness and Leisure, you will be able to motivate and encourage people through fitness. You will also need to be able to instruct circuits and other classes (where required and qualification dependent). If you would like to gain experience of the full range of activities within a leisure centre, we would welcome your application.

Our team works on a shift pattern, and you will need to be able to work a combination of early, late and weekend shifts.
