Job summary

The Red Snapper Recruitment Limited is seeking a First Aid Trainer to plan, prepare and deliver high-quality first aid training to staff based in Birmingham. The role is office-based with a 12-month contract and a pay rate of £19.38 per hour, reporting to the Training / Learning & Development Manager.

You will deliver both theoretical and practical training, assess learner competence, and maintain appropriate training records.

Qualifications

  • Recognised and current first aid qualification appropriate to the level of training.
  • Recognised training, teaching or instructional qualification, or demonstrable experience of delivering training.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering first aid training to individuals and/or groups.
  • Strong practical knowledge of first aid principles, procedures and emergency response.
  • Knowledge of current first aid guidance, standards and best practice.
  • Experience of assessing learners and providing constructive feedback.
  • Experience of adapting training delivery to meet different learning styles and individual needs.

FIRST AID TRAINER

Number of Positions: 3

Location: Birmingham - Office Based

Contract: 12-months

Pay Rate: 19.38 per hour

Reporting to: Training / Learning & Development Manager

ROLE PURPOSE

The First Aid Trainer will be responsible for planning, preparing and delivering high-quality first aid training to staff based at Lloyd House. The postholder will ensure training is engaging, practical and aligned with relevant first aid standards, legislation, organisational requirements and best practice. The role will involve delivering both theoretical and practical learning, assessing learner competence and providing constructive feedback to support successful completion of training. The successful candidate will use their subject matter expertise and training experience to ensure learners develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to respond effectively to first aid situations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging first aid training sessions to individuals and groups.
  • Deliver both classroom-based and practical first aid training.
  • Manage learners and create a positive, inclusive and effective learning environment.
  • Prepare and maintain training materials, presentations, practical exercises and assessment resources.
  • Ensure training content remains accurate, current and aligned with recognised first aid guidance and relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrate practical first aid techniques and ensure learners have sufficient opportunity to practise and develop their skills.
  • Assess learner knowledge, understanding and practical competence against relevant learning outcomes.
  • Provide constructive feedback and additional support where required to help learners achieve the required standard.
  • Maintain accurate training, attendance and assessment records.
  • Identify individual learning needs and adapt training delivery accordingly.
  • Promote good practice in relation to health, safety, safeguarding and professional conduct.
  • Maintain appropriate training equipment and ensure practical training environments are safe and suitable for delivery.
  • Keep up to date with changes to first aid guidance, legislation, training standards and emerging best practice.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders and subject matter experts where required to ensure training remains effective and relevant.
  • Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of first aid training programmes.
  • Maintain appropriate continuing professional development (CPD) and ensure first aid and training qualifications remain current.
  • Work flexibly to meet training requirements, including occasional evening or weekend delivery where required.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role and level of responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The role is fully office-based and requires the successful candidate to:

  • Maintain all relevant first aid and training qualifications throughout the contract.
  • Maintain appropriate CPD and keep knowledge and skills up to date.
  • Deliver practical first aid training safely and effectively.
  • Follow relevant organisational policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • Ensure training environments and equipment are safe and suitable for use.
  • Comply with relevant health and safety, safeguarding, equality and confidentiality requirements.
  • Complete any mandatory training associated with the role.
