Job summary

UKTC seeks a Laboratory Support Technician to assist in sample reception, preparation and testing for passive fire protection applications. You will log specimens, verify documentation and help prepare tests with instrumentation setup.

Responsibilities include maintaining lab conditions, calibrations and data records, while following health and safety guidelines to support accurate, traceable results in a busy lab environment.

Qualifications

• Strong organisation and attention to detail required.
• Practical problem solving ability expected.
• Experience of accurate record keeping.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a structured laboratory or production environment.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Receive and log test specimens into the laboratory system.
• Gather client documentation and verify samples against test requests.
• Prepare specimens per relevant test standards and procedures.
• Label, store and track samples to maintain traceability.
• Coordinate sample preparation timelines with the technical team.
• Assist with installation of specimens for fire testing and setup of instrumentation.
• Monitor and record laboratory conditions; calibrate balances and equipment.
• Support with dismantling and disposal of test specimens after testing.
