Job Description
The Role:
- Liaising with clients to ensure that their testing requirements are fully met.
- Defining test programmes and producing quotations.
- Liaising with technical surveyors to ensure sufficient information has been provided to enable a survey to be conducted.
- Conducting tests in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate test standard and approved procedures.
- Working with departments across site including taking responsibility during the test of technician teams.
- Provide training to other colleagues when required.
- Any other duties in line with the role.
Essential knowledge/skills/experience:
- Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, and published standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical and mathematical skills.
- IT literate - capable of using all the software required to perform tasks effectively with minimum guidance.
- Ability to read and understand clients' technical drawings.
- An understanding of health & safety.
- Highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines.
Desirable knowledge/skills/experience:
- Knowledge of testing, fire, mechanical, smoke and/or thermal performance of construction products.
- Knowledge of the specific risks involved and the technical aspects of the construction process.
- Proficiency in BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
- Experience with project management of complex testing programmes.

Qualifications
- Knowledge of the specific risks involved and the technical aspects of the construction process.
- Proficiency in BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
- One of the following:
- HND or higher in engineering or scientific discipline.
- Experience as a technician at a fire test laboratory for a minimum of two years.
- Experience as a technical surveyor at a fire test laboratory for a minimum of one year.
