Job summary

SOCOTEC UK is seeking a Technical Officer (Fire Resistance) to coordinate testing programmes for passive fire protection, liaising with clients, and ensuring compliance with standards. The role requires strong communication, reading technical drawings, and maintaining quality under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand instructions, procedures, and published standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good analytical and mathematical skills.
• IT literate - capable of using software to perform tasks with minimal guidance.
• Ability to read and understand clients' technical drawings.
• An understanding of health & safety.
• Highly organised and able to work to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Liaising with clients to ensure testing requirements are met.
• Defining test programmes and producing quotations.
• Liaising with technical surveyors to ensure information for surveys.
• Conducting tests in accordance with the relevant test standard and approved procedures.
• Working with other departments across site and supervising technician teams during tests.
• Providing training to other colleagues when required.
• Carrying out other duties in line with the role.
