Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Fire Suppression Design Team based in Sunbury, with the team relocating to Weybridge next year. The role is office-based for the first six months, after which hybrid working may be available, subject to performance and agreement with your Design Manager.

You will travel occasionally for site surveys and client design meetings across the UK. You will interpret customer requirements, produce designs in line with project specs, and

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience designing sprinkler and/or fire suppression systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and design requirements.
• Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and develop customer design requirements for fire suppression systems.
• Produce accurate designs in line with project specifications, standards and customer requirements.
• Ensure design schedules support approval, fabrication and construction deadlines.
• Work closely with Sales and Contract Managers on specifications, installation requirements and bracketing solutions.
• Complete Design Risk Assessments in accordance with company procedures.
• Maintain clear and professional communication with customers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth project handover fromSales through to project completion.
• Attend site visits, client meetings and design reviews when required.

What You Will Do

As a Design Engineer within our Fire Suppression Design Team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality fire suppression system designs across regional projects. The team is currently based in Sunbury and is expected to relocate to Weybridge next year. To support your training, onboarding and development, this role will be office-based for the first six months. Following this period, hybrid working may be available, subject to performance and agreement with your Design Manager. You will also undertake occasional UK travel for site surveys, progress reviews, drawing mark-ups and client design meetings.

What We Are Looking For
