Jobbeschreibung

Ivy Resource Group are working with a well-established contractor to recruit an experienced Fire Stopping Manager for a permanent role based in Bristol.

The company:

Our client is a UK-based construction company established in 2016, specialising in façade and fire safety remediation works. Headquartered in Bristol, the company works with clients across the UK, helping to improve building safety and ensure compliance with relevant fire safety regulations.

The company provides a range of specialist construction services, including passive fire protection, fire door upgrades, fire stopping and compartmentation, and large-scale façade remediation projects. It also operates an internal fit-out division in the South West, undertaking refurbishment and interior construction work.

Our client serves the residential, commercial and public sectors, working closely with clients and other construction professionals to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to the required standards. The company emphasises quality workmanship, reliability, collaboration and regulatory compliance, with the overall aim of making buildings safer and more resilient.

The Role:
  • Project management: Plan, coordinate and oversee fire-stopping works across multiple construction and remediation projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

  • Site supervision: Manage fire-stopping operatives and subcontractors, ensuring work is carried out safely and to the required standards.

  • Quality control: Inspect installations such as fire-stopping seals, penetration seals, cavity barriers and fire-resistant compartmentation to ensure they meet specifications.

  • Compliance and regulations: Ensure all works comply with relevant Building Regulations, fire safety requirements, project specifications and applicable industry standards.

  • Health and safety: Ensure risk assessments, method statements (RAMS) and site safety procedures are followed.

  • Materials management: Coordinate the ordering, delivery and correct use of approved fire-stopping products and systems.

  • Programme management: Monitor project progress, allocate resources and coordinate activities with site managers, main contractors and other trades.

  • Documentation and record keeping: Maintain accurate installation records, inspection reports, photographs, product information and evidence required for project handover.

  • Building safety and remediation: Support projects involving fire safety improvements in existing buildings, ensuring identified fire-stopping defects are properly rectified.

  • Testing and inspections: Arrange or coordinate inspections and any required testing to verify the quality and performance of completed installations.

  • Team leadership: Train, mentor and support operatives, promoting high standards of workmanship and professional development.

  • Commercial management: Monitor labour costs, productivity, variations and subcontractor performance to help maintain project profitability.

  • Problem-solving: Investigate installation defects, resolve technical issues and implement corrective actions where work does not meet the required standard.

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Relevant industry experience: Proven experience in fire stopping, passive fire protection, construction or fire safety remediation projects.

  • Technical knowledge: Strong understanding of fire-stopping systems, fire compartmentation, cavity barriers, penetration seals and fire-resistant materials.

  • Industry qualifications: Relevant qualifications in passive fire protection, fire safety or construction management. Certifications such as FIRAS, ASFP-related training or other recognised industry training would be advantageous, depending on the role.

  • Knowledge of regulations: Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, fire safety requirements and relevant British Standards.

  • Management experience: Experience managing site teams, subcontractors and multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Quality assurance: Ability to inspect installations, identify defects and ensure works meet specifications and manufacturer requirements.

  • Health and safety awareness: Knowledge of risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), site safety procedures and safe working practices.

  • Strong organisational skills: Ability to manage programmes, resources, materials, deadlines and project documentation effectively.

  • Attention to detail: A thorough approach to inspections, installation records, photographic evidence and compliance documentation.

  • Communication skills: Confidence liaising with clients, site managers, main contractors, consultants and operatives.

  • Problem-solving ability: Capable of resolving technical issues, addressing non-conformances and coordinating remedial works.

  • Commercial awareness: Understanding of budgets, labour costs, productivity, variations and project profitability.

  • Leadership skills: Ability to motivate teams, maintain high workmanship standards and promote accountability.
