Job summary

Shirley Parsons is recruiting a Fire & Building Safety Advisor in East Birmingham. The role focuses on delivering expert fire safety support across a complex environment, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act while aligning with project delivery teams.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years in fire safety, a Level 4 qualification, and strong communication skills to engage Contractors, Project Managers and authorities effectively.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience within fire safety or a similar role.
• Level 4 Fire Safety qualification or equivalent.
• Experience of fire safety within construction.
• Awareness of CDM Regulations and construction-phase requirements.
• Experience working across large, complex or multi-contractor environments.
• Experience conducting fire safety inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent and practical fire safety advice across projects and the wider organisation.
• Undertake and review Fire Risk Assessments, ensuring actions are managed and closed out.
• Conduct fire safety inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Support construction and development projects to meet Building Regulations and fire safety requirements.
• Review fire strategies against construction phasing and design intent.
• Maintain fire safety policies, processes and documentation.
• Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations and share lessons learned.
• Work closely with Contractors, Project Managers, fire engineers and enforcing authorities.

Fire & Building Safety Advisor

£50,000 - £55,000 plus package & bonus

We are seeking an experienced Fire & Building Safety Specialist to join a globally recognised organisation, providing specialist fire safety support across a diverse and complex operational environment. The position will play a key role in supporting the organisation, ensuring projects meet relevant fire safety legislation, Building Regulations and internal safety standards.

The role will have a strong focus on construction and building fire safety, Building Regulations & the Building Safety Act . You will work closely with Contractors, Project Managers and wider project teams, providing practical fire safety advice throughout project delivery.

The Fire & Building Safety Advisor will be responsible for;

• Providing competent and practical fire safety advice across projects and the wider organisation
• Undertaking and reviewing Fire Risk Assessments, ensuring actions are appropriately managed and closed out
• Conducting fire safety inspections, audits and compliance reviews
• Supporting construction and development projects to meet Building Regulations and fire safety requirements
• Reviewing fire strategies and temporary fire strategies against construction phasing and design intent
• Maintaining fire safety policies, processes and documentation
• Supporting accident, incident and near-miss investigations and sharing lessons learned
• Working closely with Contractors, Project Managers, fire engineers, enforcing authorities and other key stakeholders
• Promoting a positive fire safety culture through engagement, guidance and training

The Fire & Building Safety Advisor will have;
