Job summary

The University of Southampton is seeking a Fire Safety Officer to support the Fire Safety Manager across its campuses. You will help develop safe working practices, deliver fire safety training, identify risks and build fire safety knowledge among staff and students.

The post holder will conduct fire risk assessments across the University estate and liaise with stakeholders to support remedial work, while providing specialist advice on fire safety management and helping line managers implement

Qualifications

• Applicants must hold a minimum Level 3 fire safety qualification, and should be willing to work towards a Level 4 qualification.
• Experience in fire safety management, including fire risk assessment, regulatory compliance and providing competent advice.
• Good working knowledge of current fire safety legislation and relevant guidance documents.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fire risk assessments across the University estate in line with the risk-based Fire Risk Assessment programme.
• Liaise with stakeholders to support the completion of remedial work as required.
• Provide specialist advice on all aspects of fire safety management, helping line managers implement health and safety policies, practices, processes and procedures.
