Job summary

The University of Southampton is seeking a Fire Safety Officer to support the Fire Safety Manager in delivering fire safety activities across its campuses. The post holder will conduct fire risk assessments, liaise with stakeholders to support remedial work, and provide specialist advice on all aspects of fire safety management.

Interviews are being held on Highfield Campus; contact Fire Safety Manager Simon Mills for informal discussion. This role is based on-site in Southampton.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 fire safety qualification; willing to progress to Level 4.
• Experience in fire safety management, including fire risk assessment.
• Good working knowledge of current fire safety legislation and guidance documents.
• Ability to liaise with stakeholders and provide competent fire safety advice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fire risk assessments across the University estate.
• Liaise with stakeholders to support remedial work as required.
• Provide specialist advice on all aspects of fire safety management.
• Support line managers in implementing Health & Safety policies.
• Deliver fire safety training.
