Job summary

The University of Southampton is seeking a Fire Safety Officer to support the Fire Safety Manager in delivering fire safety activities across its campuses. The role will help develop safe working practices, deliver fire safety training, identify risks and issues, and build fire safety knowledge and confidence among staff and students.

• Candidates must hold a Level 3 fire safety qualification and be willing to progress to Level 4.
• Experience in fire safety management, including risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of current fire safety legislation and guidance documents.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fire risk assessments across the University estate as part of the risk-based programme.
• Liaise with stakeholders to support remedial work related to fire safety findings.
• Provide specialist advice on fire safety management to line managers and staff.
• Deliver fire safety training and promote safe working practices across campuses.
