Job summary

Anchor is seeking an experienced Fire Safety Manager to lead fire safety operations across a national housing and care portfolio. You will ensure FRAs are completed on time, actions tracked, and fire safety management systems stay robust and compliant with evolving regulation.

You will coach and develop Fire Safety Assessors, oversee training, and coordinate with Building Safety, Health & Safety, regulators and local services to embed resident-centered safety and continuous improvement.

Salary: £71,200 per annum inc car allowance

We are looking for an experienced Fire Safety Manager to lead our fire safety operations and strengthen compliance across a diverse national housing and care portfolio. Your expertise will directly shape a proactive, high‑performing safety culture and ensure our buildings remain safe, resilient and fully compliant with evolving regulation.

About the role

You’ll take responsibility for ensuring Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) are completed on time, actions are prioritised and closed, and our fire safety management systems remain robust and forward‑thinking. You'll lead and develop our Fire Safety Assessors, maintaining high technical standards through robust competency, quality assurance and continuous improvement arrangements. Also working closely with Building Safety, Health & Safety and customer‑facing teams to embed a culture of accountability and resident‑centred safety.

You'll act as Anchor's internal fire safety specialist, monitoring regulatory changes, supporting compliance with the Building Safety Act, supporting PEEPs and PCFRAs, overseeing fire door surveys and emergency systems testing, and maintaining strong relationships with Fire & Rescue Services and regulatory bodies.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing all fire safety operations across homes and buildings.
• Ensuring FRAs and resulting actions are completed on time and remain suitable and sufficient.
• Leading, coaching and developing Fire Safety Assessors, maintaining competency frameworks, quality assurance processes and continuing professional development programmes.
• Developing and implementing fire safety strategies, assurance frameworks and improvement plans to strengthen organisational compliance and resident safety.
• Reviewing and updating Fire Safety Policy in line with legislation.
• Coordinating fire safety training and awareness programmes.
• Acting as the organisation’s fire safety expert and trusted advisor, providing fire safety expertise in support of Building Safety Act compliance, including Safety Cases, higher‑risk buildings and Accountable Person responsibilities where applicable.
• Liaising with Fire & Rescue Services, regulators and the Primary Authority.
• Supporting resident engagement and communication on fire safety matters, ensuring concerns are addressed and safety information is accessible.
• Analysing fire safety performance, trends and risks to inform strategic decision making and continuous improvement.
• Managing and assuring external fire safety providers, ensuring quality, value and compliance.
• Providing technical oversight and quality assurance of Fire Risk Assessments and associated remedial programmes, supporting complex assessments where specialist input is required.

What you’ll bring

• Membership of, or eligibility for membership of, IFE, IFSM or an equivalent professional body.
• Proven experience managing fire risk in residential housing.
• Experience leading teams and developing competence.
• Ability to travel as required
