Job summary

CHM in Barnsley is seeking a Business Fire Safety Inspecting Officer to undertake regulatory fire safety inspections and provide expert guidance. You will inspect business premises in South Yorkshire and perform enforcement activities as required, supporting a safe community.

The role requires strong communication, planning, and a full driving licence, with progression through a structured training pathway from Grade 4 to Grade 7 as you qualify.

Qualifications

• Experience working with the public.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to plan, manage and prioritise workloads.
• Current full driving licence.
• GCSE Maths & English Grades A-C or equivalent.
• Willing to work towards Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (Auditor) or already qualified.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking regulatory fire safety inspections, and related activities.
• Providing fire safety advice, guidance, engagement and technical support.
• The key duties will include the inspection of business premises in South Yorkshire and where required carry out the required level of formal enforcement activity.
