Job summary

Shirley Parsons Ltd is recruiting a Fire Safety Advisor in Wiltshire on a permanent basis. You will lead fire safety compliance across a varied portfolio of sites, from industrial facilities to defence environments, ensuring adherence to UK legislation and best practice.

You will deliver Fire Risk Assessments, develop improvement plans, and provide pragmatic, risk-based advice to senior stakeholders while building trusted relationships across the organization and regulators.

Qualifications

• Recognised fire safety qualification (Level 4 Diploma or above).
• Accreditation as a Fire Risk Assessor (IFE/IFSM/NFRAR or equivalent).
• Experience delivering Fire Risk Assessments in complex environments.

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a leading UK organisation operating at the forefront of defence, aviation and advanced technology. Supporting nationally significant programmes and emerging technologies, the organisation manages a diverse estate of specialist facilities across the UK and is continuing to invest heavily in fire safety, compliance and risk management.

Based primarily in the Wiltshire area, this role offers the chance to work within one of the UK's most fascinating aviation and defence environments, supporting a varied portfolio of approximately 40 sites ranging from ageing infrastructure through to highly specialised operational facilities. The Fire Safety Advisor will be responsible for:

Leading fire safety compliance, prevention and protection activities across a portfolio of operational and high-hazard sites, ensuring standards align with current legislation, best practice and organisational requirements.
Delivering and reviewing Fire Risk Assessments, developing improvement plans and providing pragmatic, risk-based advice to senior stakeholders across a diverse property portfolio that includes complex industrial, aviation and defence environments.
Building trusted relationships with site leaders, project teams, regulators and external stakeholders, influencing positive fire safety outcomes whilst constructively challenging where necessary to ensure standards are maintained.
Supporting the ongoing development of fire safety management systems, policies, training programmes and assurance activities, helping to drive a culture of continuous improvement across multiple UK locations.
The Fire Safety Advisor will have:

A recognised Fire Safety qualification, ideally at Level 4 Diploma standard or above, coupled with accreditation as a competent Fire Risk Assessor through a recognised professional body (IFE, IFSM, NFRAR or equivalent).
Proven experience delivering Fire Risk Assessments and providing fire safety advice within complex, high-risk or highly regulated environments. Experience within defence, aviation, critical infrastructure or similar sectors would be particularly advantageous.
Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, fire prevention and protection standards, and ideally an understanding of building regulations, building control processes and DSEAR requirements.
The credibility and communication skills to effectively influence senior stakeholders, challenge where necessary in a professional and constructive manner, and build trusted relationships across a diverse organisation whilst maintaining a strong customer-focused approach.
