Job summary

Established Fire & Life Safety Specialist is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer based in Leeds to service, maintain and commission fire alarm systems across commercial sites in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

The role involves fault finding, installation work, testing and inspection, and ensuring compliance with BS 5839. You will handle conventional and addressable systems and interact directly with customers, often working independently with a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer with strong technical background in fire systems.
• FIAS competency is required.
• Knowledge of BS 5839 is essential.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join a well-established and growing fire systems specialist covering Leeds and the wider West Yorkshire region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a genuinely fire-focused engineer who wants to work for a specialist business where fire protection is a core discipline rather than an add-on to a wider security or facilities offering.

The Role

Working predominantly across Leeds and the surrounding region, you will be responsible for providing a professional fire alarm service to a range of commercial customers.

• Servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems
• Fault finding and diagnostics
• Carrying out reactive repairs
• Fire alarm installation works
• Testing and inspection
• Commissioning where competent
• Working across conventional and addressable systems
• Completing all relevant service and compliance documentation
• Ensuring work is completed in accordance with BS 5839
• Providing a professional service when dealing directly with customers

What We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced Fire Alarm Engineers based in or around Leeds who have a strong technical background within the fire industry.

FIAS experience/competency is imperative for this position, so applicants must be able to demonstrate the relevant experience and knowledge.

Ideally, you will have:

• Strong experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer
• FIAS experience/competency
• Good knowledge of BS 5839
• Excellent fire alarm servicing and fault-finding skills
• Experience with conventional and addressable systems
• Knowledge of a range of leading fire alarm manufacturers
• Installation and commissioning experience would be advantageous
• Good communication and customer-facing skills
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
• Full UK driving licence
