Job summary

Redline Group is seeking a Development Engineer in Cambridge, UK, to contribute to the research, development and testing of innovative fire detection technologies. You will conduct technical research, prototype testing and bench experiments, analyse data, and report findings to cross-functional teams.

The role requires hands-on prototyping, knowledge of electronics and circuit prototyping, and a degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics or Software Engineering.

Qualifications

• Practical engineering, product development, R&D or technical investigation experience.
• Knowledge of electronics, schematics, datasheets and circuit prototyping.
• Experience using Python or MATLAB for engineering analysis or test automation.
• Hands-on experience with prototypes, test equipment and experimental setups.
• Degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out technical research, investigations and prototype testing
• Evaluating competitor products and alternative technologies
• Analysing test results and engineering data to support development decisions
• Conducting bench testing, fault finding and root-cause analysis
• Producing technical reports and communicating findings to engineering teams
• Working collaboratively across development and production engineering teams
• Supporting the development of robust, high-quality fire detection products
