About the role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Consultant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting fire risk assessments across a variety of properties, including commercial and residential buildings and providing expert advice on fire safety compliance and best practices. This role involves delivering high-quality assessments, compiling detailed reports, and ensuring fire safety measures align with current regulations.

Working with some of the best property clients in the UK, you will take ownership of and work with clients to provide expert fire safety consultancy advice.

What we're looking for
Qualifications
  • To hold a recognised fire risk assessment accreditation.
  • Completed a NEBOSH general certificate
Experience
  • You’ll have experience of conducting property fire risk assessments (Types 1-4), fire strategies for more complex properties and passive fire protection survey.
  • Have a solid understanding of relevant building regulations approved documents.
  • Experience working in a consultancy role within the property sector
  • To consistently demonstrate a professional demeanour and high-quality service to foster client trust and satisfaction.
  • Be proficient in using fire risk assessment tools and report-writing software.
  • Competence in applying fire safety engineering principles.
  • A sound understanding of relevant Building Regulations and Approved Documents is essential.
  • Additionally, they must demonstrate competence in applying engineering principles, codes, and expert judgment to understand the dynamics of fire and human behaviour, ensuring the protection of people from its destructive effects.
Role Details
  • Location: Field Based – London and South
  • Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week across Monday to Friday from 9am – 5:30pm, generally 2/3 days on the road per week.
  • Reporting to: Team Manager
  • Notice Period: 1 month

What you’ll be getting up to
  • Conduct detailed fire risk assessments and fire safety reviews for commercial, residential and mixed-use properties.
  • Evaluate fire hazards and risks, identifying areas of non-compliance and recommending practical, risk-based solutions.
  • Assess the potential effects of fire and develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance life safety.
  • Provide expert fire safety advice relating to the design, construction, refurbishment and occupation of buildings.
  • Assess materials, structural elements and fire protection systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and guidance.
  • Review fire safety documentation, plans and drawings, providing technical recommendations and guidance where required.
  • Identify and evaluate appropriate preventive and protective measures to reduce fire risk and minimise the potential impact of fire.
  • Carry out site inspections, audits and surveys to assess fire safety standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare clear, accurate and professional reports, communicating findings, recommendations and action plans to clients and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on fire safety, risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with clients across the commercial and residential property sectors to deliver tailored fire safety solutions that meet their operational needs.
  • Manage a varied workload, coordinating site visits, assessments and reporting activities to meet client and business deadlines, supported by the scheduling team.
  • Keep up to date with changes in fire safety legislation, building regulations, industry standards and best practice, ensuring advice remains current and compliant.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, contributing to knowledge sharing, company updates, problem-solving and business growth initiatives.
  • Support and mentor less experienced colleagues where appropriate, sharing technical expertise and promoting high standards of service delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, training and sponsored qualifications to enhance technical knowledge and career progression.
  • Ensure all assessments, recommendations and consultancy activities are delivered in accordance with current legislation, industry standards and company procedures.
