Job summary

Chubb Fire & Security Ltd seeks a Fire and Security Engineer to service, maintain and repair fire detection and security systems across the Highlands region. You will diagnose faults, read technical drawings, and complete records on time while coordinating with customers and the service desk.

The role offers a fixed base with on-call, overtime opportunities, plus development through in-house training and product knowledge sessions.

Qualifications

  • Experience servicing, maintaining, fault-finding and repairing fire detection alarm systems and electronic security systems.
  • Knowledge of intruder alarm, fire alarms, CCTV and access-control systems for planned and reactive service.
  • Ability to read plans and record system changes accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake routine servicing, testing, inspection, preventative maintenance and repairs of fire detection, fire alarm and associated equipment.
  • Undertake planned and reactive maintenance of security systems, including intruder alarms, CCTV and access-control systems.
  • Plan work activities, coordinate access and ensure safe storage of equipment on site.

SALARY: Opportunity to earn in excess of £52,000 (This includes basic and additional supplements - base is determined on experience). Key Responsibilities Service, Maintenance and Repair
  • Undertake routine servicing, testing, inspection, preventative maintenance and repairs of fire detection, fire alarm and associated equipment, including emergency lighting where applicable.
  • Undertake planned and reactive maintenance of security systems, including intruder alarms, CCTV and access-control systems.
  • Attend customer sites in response to system failures and malfunctions; diagnose faults logically and rectify them using appropriate repair or replacement methods.
Installation and Commissioning
  • Support and undertake installation, modification and commissioning works for fire and security systems in line with specifications, drawings, relevant standards and company procedures.
  • Plan work activities, check materials, coordinate access and installation arrangements with customers and other contractors, and ensure the safe storage of equipment on site.
  • Install, connect, test and commission equipment, cables and containment as required.
Planning, Documentation and Teamwork
  • Plan and organise own workload efficiently, prioritising customer needs, safety requirements and contractual commitments.
  • Complete all required electronic and paper records accurately and on time, including PDA records, customer record books, timesheets, test results and unusual incident reports.
  • Communicate promptly and concisely with the service desk regarding customer issues, outstanding work and follow-on requirements.
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience of servicing, maintaining, fault-finding and repairing fire detection alarm systems and electronic security systems.
  • Working knowledge of intruder alarm, Fire Alarms, CCTV and access-control systems for both planned preventative and reactive service activity.
  • Ability to read and work from prepared plans, technical drawings and system documentation, and accurately record system changes.
  • Ability to diagnose faults methodically and complete repairs to the required technical, quality and safety standards.
