Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Fire Alarm Service Engineer for a static on-site role at a major facility in Ashford, Kent. You will service, test, and fault-find on fire alarm and gas suppression systems, reporting to the Field Line Manager and ensuring strict site safety protocols.

You will join a dedicated on-site team, receive training in gas and mechanical suppression, and support apprentices while maintaining high standards of client communication and service quality.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with fire detection and fire alarm systems.
• Experience in a service-focused business.
• Good understanding of gas suppression systems and their maintenance.
• Knowledge of fire legislation, standards, and related field devices.
• Integrity testing experience or willingness to train.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel for training.
• Willingness to work out-of-hours callouts.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and fault‑find on fire detection and fire alarm systems.
• Receive training and development in gas suppression and mechanical suppression systems.
• Carry out integrity testing (training provided if required).
• Complete all service documentation accurately using an iPad and service software.
• Liaise with the client to obtain permits to work and ensure compliance with site procedures.
• Attend mandatory training and maintain required certifications.
• Support occasional mechanical and passive fire protection tasks.
• Participate in the on‑call rota on a rotating weekly basis.
• Identify, escalate, and report health and safety concerns promptly.
