Job summary

Printed.com is seeking a Print Finishing Operative to turn printed materials into professional products using saddle stitch, cutting, laminating and folding techniques. You will ensure customers receive high-quality finished products produced on our saddle stitch lines.

The role offers an afternoon shift (12pm - 8pm) with a starting wage of £25–£27K depending on experience, and opportunities for overtime in a fast-paced production environment. You’ll join a dynamic team committed to quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating saddle stitch machines (Duplo I-Saddle / Horizon).
  • Strong attention to detail to deliver high-quality finished products.
  • Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of troubleshooting during finishing process.
  • Willing to work varying shifts and overtime.
  • Physically capable of lifting 20 kg.

Responsibilities

  • Execute finishing processes: cutting, binding, laminating, folding.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished products.
  • Operate and maintain finishing equipment and perform maintenance.
  • Manage workflow to meet production schedules.
  • Load paper and ensure proper alignment.
  • Set up saddle stitch machines per job specs.
  • Monitor operations and resolve jams or misfeeds.
  • Coordinate with team leaders to prioritise jobs.
  • Follow safety protocols and keep workspace clean.

Job Role

As a print finishing operative, you will play a crucial role in making printed materials into professional products, utilizing precision cutting, laminating, binding, folding techniques as well as other finishing skills. You will ensure that the customers receive a quality finished product. Your main role will be to produce quality books using our saddles stitching equipment.

12pm - 8pm shift. Starting wage ranging from 25-27K depending on experience.

Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience operating saddle stitch machines, specifically the Duplo I-Saddle and Horizon models preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering finished products of the highest quality.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and resolving issues during the finishing process.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities throughout the working day.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Operate and maintain finishing equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance.
  • Manage workflow efficiently to meet production schedules and ensure timely delivery of finished products.
  • Handle and organize printed materials, preparing them for finishing processes.
  • Set up saddle stitch machines according to job specifications, including adjusting settings for paper size, fold types, and trim sizes.
  • Load paper and other materials into the machine and ensure proper alignment and registration.
  • Monitor machine operations during production runs to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with equipment, such as jams or misfeeds.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to keep them in optimal working condition.
  • Coordinate with team leaders to prioritize jobs and meet production deadlines.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
