The Financial Reporting Manager will lead the delivery of accurate, timely and insight-led financial reporting across Healthcare 21 UK Group. The role will own the month-end reporting cycle, management accounts, group reporting submissions, balance-sheet integrity, statutory reporting support and reporting controls.

The Financial Reporting Manager would work closely with the Financial Controller to deliver reliable month-end and Group reporting, while escalating material reporting risks, control issues and audit matters as appropriate. They will strengthen financial controls, improve reporting processes and systems, and translate financial performance into clear actions for non-finance colleagues.

Key Responsibilities & Competencies:

Financial reporting and month-end
  • Own and manage the month-end close timetable, reporting checklist and delivery of monthly management accounts.
  • Produce high-quality management accounts, board and stakeholder reporting packs, including meaningful variance analysis against budget, forecast, prior month and prior year.
  • Ensure reporting is reconciled to source systems and supported by a clear audit trail.
  • Review significant movements, investigate anomalies and present concise commentary, risks and recommended actions.
  • Prepare and submit monthly Group/PLC reporting accurately and on time.
  • Maintain clear reporting calendars, control checklists and process documentation.
Financial control and balance-sheet ownership
  • Own the balance-sheet control framework, ensuring all material accounts are reconciled, reviewed, evidenced and resolved promptly.
  • Oversee intercompany accounting, reconciliations and confirmation of balances across Group entities.
  • Lead revenue, margin, stock, accrual, prepayment, fixed-asset, VAT and other key financial control reviews.
  • Ensure manual journals are complete, appropriately supported, accurately coded and independently reviewed.
  • Preparation and submission of the VAT returns and maintenance of the fixed-asset register.
Planning, commercial insight and business partnering
  • Assist the financial reporting elements of budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting cycles.
  • Partner with senior managers to improve financial understanding, ownership of budgets and decision-making.
Audit, statutory reporting and compliance
  • Assist with the year-end audit process, including audit planning, preparation of schedules, coordination of information requests and liaison with external auditors.
  • Maintain a strong control environment and contribute to internal-control testing, risk assessment and remediation activity.
  • Ensure finance processes are appropriately documented, consistently applied and continually improved.
Management/Leadership
  • Manage, mentor and develop a team of two finance professionals, ensuring high performance, continuous development, effective workload prioritisation and the delivery of accurate, timely financial reporting.
  • Act as the finance lead on technical accounting matters, providing expert guidance and leadership to the wider finance function and supporting business stakeholders in the interpretation and application of accounting standards, policies and financial reporting requirements.
  • Travel to other UK sites on an ad-hoc basis.
Key Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years’ post-qualified experience in a financial reporting, management accounting, financial control or group reporting role.
  • Strong experience delivering month-end close, management accounts, board reporting and financial analysis.
  • Proven ownership of balance-sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and financial controls.
  • Strong Excel capability, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, data analysis and report-model development.
  • Experience using an ERP system and financial-reporting tools; SAP and Cognos experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with the judgement to identify and resolve reporting issues.
  • Ability to challenge constructively, explain financial results clearly and influence operational decision-making.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and confidence to take ownership of processes.
  • Experience in prioritising workload and working in a pressurised environment.
  • Ability and drive to take full ownership over area of responsibility
