Job description

Starr Insurance Companies is a leading insurance and investment organization, providing commercial property and casualty insurance, including travel and accident coverage, to almost every imaginable business and industry in virtually every part of the world.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the CUO and Financial Lines Underwriting teams to coordinate the Syndicate Business Forecast (SBF) and Starr Business Plan class of business narratives, strategies, and plans;
  • Review and monitor key underwriting controls such as Pre-Bind Quality Assurance (PBQA), Contract Certainty, Quality Assurance, and Peer Review;
  • Produce data and reports for the FL reinsurance treaty and FAC Wrap, as well as presentations and ad hoc reports;
  • Coordinate and update all underwriting and operational guidelines and manuals, liaising closely with key stakeholders;
  • Lead and assist with London Market developments, including tracking and submitting PPL data, TIDE, and Future of Lloyd’s work-streams;
  • Assist and lead system implementations, upgrades, and change projects, including review, design, and implementation;
  • Work closely with the Underwriting Operations management team to provide oversight, ensure SLAs are met, support reporting requirements, and coordinate training;
  • Ensure timely resolution of all Exception Reporting issues;
  • Support FL underwriters by providing claims loss runs for key accounts;
  • Produce and update the annual production tracker for all FL lines and track premium bookings;
  • Ensure renewal accounts are ICE checked and cleared;
  • Review monthly claims movements reports;
  • Support FL management and the UPC team to maintain a robust peer review process;
  • Assist in producing, reviewing, and analyzing Management Information (MI) for the FL team;
  • Collaborate with the Credit Control team to investigate outstanding premiums, resolve queries, and manage aged debt;
  • Assist the FL CUO, FL Managers, and DA teams with tenders and business plans for binders and lineslips;
  • Work with the Binder Management team and underwriters to ensure Binder, Lineslips, and Facility information are complete and accurate;
  • Collaborate with CUO and FL managers on marketing documents.

Experience

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience;
  • Knowledge of underwriting processes and controls;
  • Report writing experience using Excel and Power BI.
