Job summary

Onward Homes is seeking a Money Advice Specialist to help customers maximise income and prevent debt. You will support customers with welfare benefits, income maximisation, and debt prevention, working with the Customer Accounts team to sustain tenancies.

The role requires a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle as mobile working is part of the job. The position offers a competitive pension and leave benefits in a flexible working environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing regulations.
• Understanding of the current welfare reform programme.
• Experience in developing partnerships with support agencies and local authorities.
• Good understanding of the social and economic context of neighbourhoods.
• Familiarity with debt collection processes and County Court procedures.
• Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage financial inclusion referrals, including visiting customers at their homes or on site and recording outcomes.
• Assist customers with benefit applications and mandatory reconsiderations/appeals.
• Advocate for customers at assessments and tribunal hearings as needed.
• Collaborate with external partners to connect customers with available support and neighbourhood teams.
• Contribute to welfare reform responses and public campaigns in local areas.
• Deliver training to colleagues on financial inclusion when required.
