Job summary

Premier Foods seeks a Financial Controller – Procurement & Logistics to join its Supply Chain Finance team in the UK. You will partner with senior leaders to provide financial insight, challenge and direction across spend including raw materials, energy, warehousing and freight.

You’ll lead budgeting, forecasting and month‑end reporting, with robust analysis of variances and performance drivers to drive business performance and strategic decisions across the supply chain.

Qualifications

• Qualified with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent post‑qualification accountancy experience.
• Experience in FMCG or supply chain finance with cost control.
• Strong ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Director of Procurement and Head of Logistics to provide financial insight and strategic direction.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and planning across Procurement and Logistics.
• Oversee month‑end reporting with variance analysis and commentary.
• Track inflation, risks and opportunities across the supply chain.
• Model scenarios to support critical business decisions.
• Enhance freight reporting and cost‑driver visibility.
• Collaborate with Commercial teams on market trends and pricing.
• Drive process simplification, automation and financial controls.
• Lead savings initiatives across procurement, energy and logistics.
• Assess FX exposure, packaging taxes, sustainability and regulation impacts.

We're looking for a Financial Controller – Procurement & Logistics to join our Supply Chain Finance team. This is a highly visible business partnering role, working directly with senior leaders across Procurement, Logistics and Finance to provide insight, challenge and direction across a significant area of spend including raw materials, energy, warehousing and freight.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, helping the business navigate risks and opportunities, improve financial performance and support key decisions that shape the future of our supply chain. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine strategic thinking, commercial insight and financial expertise while making a tangible impact across the business.

What you’ll be doing

• Partnering with the Director of Procurement and Head of Logistics to provide financial insight and support strategic decision‑making.
• Leading financial planning, budgeting and forecasting activities across Procurement and Logistics.
• Overseeing month‑end reporting, providing robust analysis and commentary on key variances and performance drivers.
• Tracking inflationary impacts and identifying key risks and opportunities across the supply chain.
• Supporting critical business decisions through financial modelling, scenario planning and commercial analysis.
• Enhancing freight reporting and analytical tools to improve visibility of actual and forecast cost drivers.
• Working closely with Commercial teams to understand market trends, volume drivers and pricing opportunities.
• Leading Supply Chain inputs into commercial pricing reviews.
• Driving process simplification, automation initiatives and financial control improvements.
• Acting as the Finance lead for identifying, quantifying and tracking savings initiatives across procurement, energy and logistics.
• Partnering with colleagues across Finance to assess topics such as FX exposure, packaging taxes, sustainability and legislative changes.

What we’re looking for

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with strong post‑qualification experience.
• Experience within FMCG and a proven track record in supply chain finance, procurement cost control and/or logistics optimisation.
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insight.
• Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting, business planning and performance analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience of ERP systems, ideally SAP.
• A strategic mindset, with the ability to anticipate future challenges and identify opportunities.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance and operational teams.
