Descrição da oferta de emprego

We are working with a growing private equity backed healthcare business to recruit a Financial Controller as the organisation continues to scale and develop its finance function.

The business operates within the wider health and care sector, delivering specialist services across the UK. Following a period of growth and investment, there is an increased focus on strengthening financial reporting, technical accounting, controls and commercial insight to support the next stage of the organisation's development.

This is a hands on Financial Controller position with responsibility across a small group structure. Working closely with senior leadership and operational teams, you'll take ownership of the group's financial reporting, statutory requirements, tax and financial controls, while providing the insight needed to support commercial and operational decision making.

The role would suit an experienced ACA or ACCA qualified accountant who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability and willingness to remain hands on. Part time applicants are particularly welcomed, although the business is open to both part time and full time candidates.

  • Growing private equity backed healthcare business - Join an established healthcare organisation at an important stage of its development, with continued investment supporting the next phase of growth.
  • Senior, broad finance remit - Take ownership across management reporting, statutory accounts, tax, financial control, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow rather than being restricted to one area of finance.
  • High level of autonomy - Play a key role within a lean finance structure, taking genuine ownership of the numbers and working closely with senior leadership.
  • Technical & commercial exposure - Combine strong financial control, statutory reporting and tax responsibilities with commercial analysis and operational business partnering.
  • Influence the wider business - Build relationships with operational teams, improve financial understanding and provide practical solutions that support better decision making.
  • Part time opportunity - A genuinely senior Financial Controller position offering flexibility for an experienced finance professional seeking a part time role.
Key responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the monthly management accounts across the group, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Consolidate financial results across multiple trading entities.
  • Produce clear financial analysis and commentary to support senior leadership and wider business decision making.
  • Maintain robust balance sheet control, ensuring reconciliations are completed accurately and issues are investigated and resolved.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working with operational stakeholders to develop realistic and meaningful financial plans.
  • Produce and maintain cash flow forecasts, providing visibility over the group’s cash position and future requirements.
Statutory reporting, tax & compliance
  • Take ownership of the preparation of statutory accounts across the group.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the group's tax position and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and compliance across relevant taxes.
  • Oversee corporation tax, VAT and other tax related matters, working with external advisers where appropriate.
  • Ensure financial reporting remains compliant with relevant UK accounting standards and statutory requirements.Lead the year end process and act as the key finance contact for external auditors and professional advisers.
  • Maintain accurate supporting schedules and documentation for audit, tax and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and continually strengthen the group’s financial control environment.
  • Review existing finance processes and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency and consistency.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are maintained across income, expenditure, payments, payroll and balance sheet accounts.
  • Support the continued development of finance policies, procedures and reporting across the organisation.
  • Take a hands on approach to resolving accounting issues rather than relying solely on external advisers.
Commercial finance & business partnering
  • Work closely with senior leadership to provide meaningful financial insight and support commercial decision making.
  • Partner with operational teams to improve understanding of financial performance, costs and key business drivers.
  • Translate financial information into clear, practical insight for non finance stakeholders.
  • Provide financial modelling and analysis to support new opportunities, bids and wider strategic initiatives.
  • Challenge assumptions constructively and identify opportunities to improve financial and operational performance.
Candidate profile
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally with approximately 3-5 years' post qualified experience.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with demonstrable experience of statutory accounts preparation and year end reporting.
  • Strong tax knowledge and awareness, with practical experience across areas such as corporation tax and VAT.
  • Strong management accounting experience, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and balance sheet control.
  • Experience working across multiple entities and producing or reviewing consolidated financial information.
  • Comfortable operating in a hands on SME environment, with the ability to move between detailed accounting work and higher level commercial discussions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, understand their commercial implications and develop practical solutions.
  • Confident communicator able to explain financial information clearly to non finance colleagues and build strong relationships across operational teams.
  • Proactive and solutions focused, with the initiative to investigate and resolve issues rather than simply highlighting financial risks.
  • Previous healthcare, social care or other regulated sector experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing private equity backed healthcare organisation in a genuinely broad Financial Controller role. You'll take ownership of the group's core financial reporting while working closely with senior leadership and operations to support the continued development of the business.

Both full time and part time applications will be considered, with a particular interest in experienced candidates seeking a senior part time opportunity.
