Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the site Finance function at the Markham Vale site. You will drive robust financial control, accurate reporting and full compliance with Group and statutory requirements, reporting to the General Manager with a dotted line to the UK CFO.

This high-visibility role focuses on providing financial insight, driving performance, and supporting strategic decisions to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with one of the recognised bodies.
• Experience in financial control, reporting and audit within a complex environment.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Experience delivering budgets, forecasts and monthly close processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site Finance function, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting and compliance with group and statutory requirements.
• Own the monthly close process with high-quality reporting and variance analysis.
• Maintain a robust control environment with audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Manage working capital, cash flow and cost control across the site.
• Develop budgets and forecasts to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Provide financial insight to improve profitability and drive performance.
• Lead and develop the Finance team and drive continuous improvement.
