Job summary

BCA is seeking a Financial Controller on a fixed-term contract based in Blackbushe with a hybrid work pattern (2-3 days in the office). The role leads end-to-end finance processes, supports ERP implementation, and provides strategic financial insight across UK Retail accounting and Group Finance.

You will manage month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting, while driving process improvements and coordinating with external auditors.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent
• Proven experience as Financial Controller or similar role
• Strong technical accounting knowledge
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Confident communicator with ability to influence stakeholders
• Advanced Excel and experience with financial systems/ERPs
• Proactive, resilient, and able to meet deadlines
• Commercial mindset with continuous improvement
• Experience in ERP implementations
• Previous team management experience

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end finance processes and month-end close activities
• Maintain strong relationships with Finance Shared Services for accurate accounts
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts for UK Retail Accounting and Group Finance
• Act as primary BCAOS contact for Group Finance
• Maintain a strong financial control environment with reconciliations and issue resolution
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and policies
• Lead on accounting treatment of complex financial matters
• Support external audits and regulatory requirements
• Oversee cash flow, working capital controls and financial risk monitoring
• Deliver timely financial reporting to senior management
• Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning with regional finance
• Review and submit weekly 13-week cash flow forecasts
• Build relationships with key stakeholders across the business
• ERP Implementation & Finance Transformation: support ERP deployment and data migration
• Work with IT and project teams to meet milestones and post-go-live stabilisation
• Help design COA, data migration and reporting requirements
• Participate in UAT, training and business change
• Promote best practices and efficiency across finance processes
• Team Leadership: coach and develop finance team
• Ensure BAU remains stable during ERP activity
• Foster continuous improvement and accountability
