Job summary

Accountable Recruitment are partnering exclusively with a fast-growing PE-backed business in Chester to appoint a Financial Controller who will act as the CFO's right hand and drive improvements across controls, forecasting and reporting.

You will lead a small team, own month-end processes, and shape the annual revenue recognition and board reporting while building robust financial models to support strategic planning. Hybrid working and professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified.
• Proven experience in a fast-paced environment.

• Analytical and technically proficient, with a detail‑oriented approach to reporting MI across the finance function and the wider business.

Responsibilities

• Lead on technical accounting and month end, providing information for investors.
• Manage a small accounts team, including an assistant management accountant, supporting their continued learning and career development.
• Review and evaluate existing financial controls and processes, creating a roadmap to enhance current practices, and continually building on these.
• Ensure timely and accurate payments and cash collection through strong management of transactional finance.
• Lead on the monthly management accounts for the business, assisting and guiding the assistant management accountant.
• Build out the board pack and month end reporting.
• Take a lead on revenue recognition to improve and automate reporting.
• Build, develop and maintain robust financial models using Excel to support strategic decision-making and financial planning.
• Manage the regular cash flow forecasting process, whilst developing the existing cash flow model to ensure an accurate cash position is consistently established.
• Forming meaningful relationships with external stakeholders such as banks, auditors and tax advisors, taking the lead on the audit process each year. FP&A, business partnering and commercial financial management.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the business, learning from a strong CFO and gaining exposure to international growth.

The Financial Controller will be dynamic and innovative, seeking to make continual improvements to the business, making their own stamp on its controls and processes.

As Financial Controller you will operate as a strong right hand to the CFO: enhancing the quality of work produced by the finance team, improving current financial controls & processes, and optimising data. You will add value across the wider organisation and drive positive change.
