Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with post-qualification experience in industry.
• Strong operational finance experience covering management reporting and financial control.
• Exposure to business services or facilities management sectors is a plus.
• Developed communication skills and ability to influence senior management.
• Ability to present complex information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Appreciation of strong controls and reliable information.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process including journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare management accounts and reporting packs with variance analysis and commentary.
• Support upgrades across finance and IT systems and the control environment.
• Coordinate the annual audit and manage corporation tax & VAT returns.
• Support treasury management including cash flow forecasting and bank relationships.
• Assist in budgeting and rolling forecasts with the Group Head of Commercial Finance.
• Lead, manage and mentor a team of finance professionals.
• Assist in acquisitions integrations and continuous improvement projects.
• Produce ad hoc board reports and analysis for senior stakeholders.

Job description

Partner Financial have been retained to recruit a Financial Controller for a growing P/E backed business services company that is part of a wider group. The company now requires additional reporting capability and deeper business partnering to support the quality and credibility of their numbers.

This newly created role is designed to elevate the financial controllership capability and strengthen the robustness of the numbers produced whilst simultaneously improving the timeliness and hence relevance of the management information.

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Financial Controller will operate as a key member of the finance team and will also work closely with the Group CFO and wider operational leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the month-end close process including journal entries & balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare management accounts and reporting packs (including variance analysis and full commentary) for senior leadership in a timely manner.
• Support upgrades across finance & IT systems, processes and the wider control environment.
• Coordinate the annual audit, manage corporation tax & VAT returns plus other statutory filings.
• Support treasury management, e.g. cash flow forecasting and managing bank relationships.
• Assist the Group Head of Commercial Finance with budgeting and quarterly rolling forecasts.
• Lead, manage and mentor a team of finance professionals.
• Assist in integrating acquisitions and wider continuous improvement projects.
• Produce ad hoc board reports and analysis in addition to other reports for senior stakeholders.

The Candidate:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) with post-qualification experience in industry.
• Strong operational finance experience across management reporting and financial control.
• Exposure to either the business services or facilities management sectors would be helpful.
• Well-developed communication skills along with the ability to influence senior management.
• Adept at presenting complex information in a clear, simple way to non-finance stakeholders.
• Appreciation of a strong controls environment where information can always be relied upon.
• Able to be flexible, deadline driven and to demonstrate a can-do attitude.
