Job summary

Berry Recruitment is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join a purpose-driven organisation in a hybrid role. You will manage day-to-day finance functions, prepare reports, and support strategic decision-making with financial insight.

This senior role collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team and Board, overseeing budgeting, cash flow, audits, and regulatory reporting while maintaining robust controls and partnerships with external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
• Strong experience in financial management, management accounts, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience in charity/not-for-profit or similar environment desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day finance function including payroll, payables and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and analyses.

Financial Controller

Location: Hybrid Salary: £42208 - £46208 pro rata per annum depending on experience.

Berry Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller to join a purpose-driven organisation and take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management of the finance function.

This is a senior position working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Board, providing financial insight and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day finance function, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and analysis.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management.
• Monitor financial performance, identifying risks, trends and opportunities.
• Provide financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Develop financial models and support long-term financial planning.
• Lead the annual accounts and audit process.
• Ensure statutory and regulatory financial reporting requirements are met.
• Oversee grant/restricted income and associated financial reporting.
• Maintain robust financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Support senior leadership and Board reporting and decision-making.
• Manage relationships with auditors, banks, pension providers and other external stakeholders.

About You

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
• Strong experience across financial management, management accounts, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience within a charity, not-for-profit or similar environment is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel and good Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders.
• A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach.
