Job description

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a growing and ambitious business within a niche sector.

Ideally you will be ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified Financial Controller; however, due consideration will be given to QBE candidates.

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Financial Controller will lead a small team of finance and operational professionals. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with colleagues, senior stakeholders, and the Board to support the continued growth and success of the business.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide financial leadership, ensuring robust financial reporting, effective internal controls, and full compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly Management Accounts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare weekly sales, margin, and performance reports.
  • Month-end reporting, journals and reconciliations.
  • Variance analysis and financial reports to support business decision-making and presentation to the CEO and Board.
  • Budgetary control.
  • Financial forecasting and risk analysis.
  • Reconcile VAT, import duties and associated tax liabilities and complete VAT returns.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of Corporation Tax requirements and support compliance.
  • Manage financial hedging activities in accordance with company policy.
  • Ensure financial records are accurate and completed for audit.
  • Coordinate the monthly payroll process through an external provider.
  • Year-end accounts, ensuring all statutory deadlines are met.

In addition to the finance responsibilities, the successful candidate will act as the Company's Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), ensuring compliance with all applicable anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF) and financial crime regulations. The role will involve maintaining AML policies and procedures, conducting relevant reporting activities, and liaising with regulators, advisers and other external stakeholders as required.

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing and ambitious company as a Financial Controller.
