The Job You'll be Doing;
- Analyse and report on key financial data within the organisation, ensuring that Directors and Managers receive timely, accurate, and relevant information.
- Work under the directive of the director and be responsible for 3 staff members.
- Produce timely and reliable management information reports monthly, including the preparation of the monthly MI for presentation to the Finance Director.
- Develop and improve financial reporting to ensure accounts are effectively produced and managed.
- Take a lead role in implementing new systems and practices.
- Collaborate with Directors and relevant departments on major projects to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, budget, and variance analysis.
- Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of applications on specific contract terms and ensure correct accounting treatment.
- Review accounts receivable, aging reports, and assist with collections through direct reports.
- Manage the AP, AR, and banking functions to ensure effective processing, measures, and controls are in place and adhered to.
- Prepare annual budgets for review with department managers.
- Review stock and work in progress, ensuring they are accurately reflected in the accounts.
- Prepare weekly/monthly cash flow planners and forecasts.
- Manage the commercial finance (ID) facility.
- Review and sign off on the monthly VAT returns.
- Review payroll and all year-end HMRC reporting.
- Prepare the year-end audit file and liaise with auditors on statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist with ad hoc projects and information requests from staff.
- Hold monthly meetings with staff to discuss department performance and KPIs.
- Oversee and manage the annual stock count.
- Work with the Finance Team and IT to develop smarter work practices.
About You;
- ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualified.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills; a good team player.
- Good knowledge of budgeting and forecasting techniques.
- Strong knowledge of accounting packages.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Requirements
- Degree qualified or AAT Qualified.
- ERP system experience.
- Experience in the construction sector.
- Project financial management experience.
- Knowledge of construction industry VAT and HMRC schemes.
