Job summary

Butler Rose is recruiting a Financial Controller for a growing business in the Plymouth area. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a key leadership role responsible for day-to-day finance, financial reporting, cash flow management and delivering commercial insight to support strategic decisions.

You will also lead business improvement initiatives, including implementing a new ERP system, while ensuring strong governance and continuous process enhancement across finance functions.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience in a senior finance role within manufacturing or engineering environment desirable.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to analyse complex financial data and present findings clearly.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Highly organised with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts.
• Analyse financial performance, margins, variances and trends.
• Develop and manage detailed multi-currency cash flow forecasts.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Review and analyse product costings, identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
• Ensure compliance with PAYE, VAT, pension, insurance and statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage relationships with overseas subsidiaries, accountants, banks and advisors.
• Oversee sales ledger, credit control and income maximisation activities.
• Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring efficient and effective financial operations.
• Support the implementation and ongoing development of a new ERP system.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and controls.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a key leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, financial reporting, cash flow management and the delivery of commercial insight to support strategic decision-making.
