Job summary

Sellick Partnership is recruiting a Financial Controller in Manchester city centre. The role reports to the CFO and sits in a hybrid permanent arrangement with a salary of £60,000 - £65,000.

We seek a qualified accountant with experience in a similar sector, able to discuss debt recovery, WIP, and partner with solicitors. The successful candidate will lead reporting and system improvements, including Power BI, Excel, and possibly new tools.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or QBE with relevant sector experience.
• Experience in a law firm or similar business is preferred.
• Ability to discuss debt recovery and WIP with solicitors and partners.

Financial Controller

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000

Location: Manchester city centre

Duration: Permanent (Hybrid)

Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a Financial Controller for an award-winning, extremely reputable and successful law firm in Manchester city centre. They are named by The Times as one of the Best Law Firms in the country, ranked in the top tiers of the independent legal directories, Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners and have won a raft of national and regional awards.

Reporting into the CFO, we are looking to recruit someone who has a legal background (whilst not essential) or someone who has worked in a similar type of sector who has experience business partnering ie being able to have conversations around debt recovery and WIP etc with solicitors.

It's a fairly simple business, so the accounting isn't overly complex (one trading entity), and currently they outsource some legal cashiering and some management and statutory accounts production to their Accountants.

You will not be required to produce stats or tax comps and so financial modelling, excel, management accounts, new system implementation, would be preferred skills. Also, Power BI/Claude/Copilot reporting experience or interest and willing is fine as well.

The successful applicant will be a qualified Accountant (ACA or ACCA or CIMA) coming from a similar role with experience in a law firm or similar business but they would be happy with a QBE type FC, who values culture and a wonderful working environment over serial promotion opportunities,
