Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our industry leading scaling consumer brand. They have been through a Series A fundraise and are set to continue their success and growth in the food and drinks industry.

This is a key role supporting the group during its year-end process and delivering the 1st audit. The brand has a strong presence in both on-trade (hospitality, bars, and restaurants) and off-trade (retail and grocery), with home and grocery offerings being the core focus.

Key Responsibilities

Year-End Financial Reporting

• Lead the preparation and delivery of the consolidated year-end financial statements.
• Ensure robust balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies before year-end.
• Drive month-end and year-end close improvements, optimizing processes for a scale-up environment.
• Provide detailed financial analysis to support leadership decision-making.
• Monitor and enforce internal controls, ensuring financial integrity.
• Lead tax compliance for corporation tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes.
• Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management.

Audit Management

• Act as the key point of contact for external auditors during the year-end audit process.
• Coordinate and manage audit requests, ensuring the timely provision of accurate documentation and responses.
• Address any audit findings or adjustments effectively.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Manage, mentor, and support the finance team during the year-end period, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
• Work closely with the FD finance leadership, and other senior stakeholders to provide clarity on financial results and ensure alignment with objectives.

Process Improvement

• Identify and implement improvements in financial reporting processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Support the ongoing development of internal reporting tools and systems.

Required Skills & Experience

• Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Sector Knowledge: Consumer, retail or hospitality experience.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders, auditors, and external parties.
