A South Cambridge manufacturing business is seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead the finance function, delivering high-quality financial insight and reporting to the senior leadership team.

The role covers financial control, commercial analysis, process improvement, and team leadership, with a salary of £60,000 to £65,000 plus a bonus. This is a hands-on SME environment with broad responsibility and potential to influence commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong management accounting and reporting skills.
• Experience in manufacturing or similar environments preferred.
• Hands‑on approach with ERP systems and process improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting.

An established manufacturing business based in South Cambridge is seeking a Financial Controller to lead its finance function and support the senior leadership team with high-quality financial insight and reporting.

This is a hands‑on role offering broad responsibility across financial control, commercial analysis, process improvement, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Leading budgeting and forecasting processes
• Delivering insightful management information and financial analysis
• Costing and variance analysis to support operational decision‑making
• Ownership of month‑end and year‑end processes
• Supporting external audits and statutory reporting requirements
• Developing financial controls, systems, and processes
• Partnering with operational teams to improve business performance
• Managing and developing a small finance team

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred
• Strong management accounting, reporting, and analytical skills
• Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or a similar environment would be advantageous
• Comfortable working in a hands‑on SME environment
• Strong systems and ERP knowledge with a continuous improvement mindset
• Leadership and team management experience
