Job summary

Financial Controller - Manufacturing - Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA - SAP -Letchworth, 65,000- 70,000

Are you an experienced Financial Controller looking for a commercially focused role where you can genuinely influence business performance?

We are working with an established, international technology-led business to recruit a Financial Controller for its UK operations. This is a senior, hands-on finance position offering significant exposure to the Managing Director, operational leadership and the wider finance team. This would be an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys being close to the business, challenging performance, improving processes and turning financial information into meaningful commercial insight.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the UK finance function, combining strong financial control with commercial business partnering.

As Financial Controller, your key responsibilities will include:

• Taking ownership of month-end, year-end, management and group reporting
• Maintaining strong balance sheet controls and ensuring accurate, timely financial information
• Providing insightful financial and operational analysis to senior management and Plant Managers
• Leading the budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planning processes
• Driving effective working capital management
• Maintaining robust internal financial controls and ensuring compliance with UK statutory, tax, audit and corporate governance requirements
• Leading the external audit and statutory accounts process
• Providing financial challenge, analysis and support around CAPEX and business investment projects
• Managing, coaching and developing the finance team of 4
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems, automation and reporting
• Working collaboratively with finance colleagues across the wider organisation

The Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for a commercially minded Financial Controller who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders outside finance.

You will ideally have:

• A recognised accountancy qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
• Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance role
• Experience gained within a manufacturing, industrial, multi-site or service-led environment
• Strong knowledge of management accounting, financial control, cash flow, statutory reporting, audit and compliance
• The ability to translate numbers into clear commercial insight and recommendations
• Previous experience of leading and developing a finance team
• Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP/reporting systems experience
• SAP experience is highly desirable
• IFRS knowledge would be advantageous

Just as importantly, you will be a hands‑on, commercially curious and collaborative finance professional who is comfortable getting into the detail while maintaining sight of the bigger commercial picture.
