The Best Connection is seeking a Financial Controller in Bromsgrove to lead a sizeable finance function, reporting to the CFO. The role centers on transforming finance into a proactive business partner, overseeing accounts, payroll and credit control, and delivering robust financial reporting with commercial impact.

You'll manage a team of over 20 professionals, drive budgeting and cash flow, and partner with operational leaders to improve profitability while supporting transformation

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a proven track record in finance leadership and business partnering.
• Experience leading sizeable finance teams and delivering commercial insight.

The Opportunity

As Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day management of a sizeable finance function, leading teams across Accounts, Payroll and Credit Control. You'll oversee the delivery of accurate financial reporting while helping to transform finance from a traditional reporting function into a proactive, commercially focused business partner.

This is more than a financial control role. It's an opportunity to influence business performance, drive operational improvements and lead a team of over 20 finance professionals through the next stage of growth.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a proven track record in finance leadership and business partnering.

You’ll bring:

• Experience leading and developing sizeable finance teams
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting expertise
• The ability to translate financial data into commercial insight
• Excellent systems knowledge and process improvement experience
• Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities
• A proactive, commercially focused mindset
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
• Confidence to challenge, influence and support operational leaders

• Recruitment, staffing or temporary labour sectors
• High-volume payroll, billing and credit control environments
