The Thrive Hive is seeking a Financial Controller in Basingstoke to take full ownership of the finance function and sit on the senior leadership team. You will report to the Managing Director and help shape the company’s financial strategy as it scales.

Financial Controller – Growing Local Business

Location: Basingstoke (hybrid: three days onsite, two days working from home)

Salary: £62,500 to start, rising to £65,000 on successful completion of probation

Reports to: Managing Director

The opportunity

A successful, growing local company is looking for a Financial Controller to take full ownership of its finance function. You will sit on the senior leadership team and report directly to the Managing Director. The role has real influence, and there is a clear route to Finance Director as the business grows.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning financial control and reporting, including timely, accurate monthly management accounts and a month-end close within five working days
• Leading cashflow forecasting, working capital management, budgeting and reforecasting
• Giving the senior team clear financial insight and commercial challenge to support strong decisions
• Taking charge of all company purchasing: setting up structured procurement processes, negotiating with suppliers and removing uncontrolled spend
• Building scalable processes and integrating systems to cut manual input and improve accuracy
• Managing and developing the Finance Assistant and any future team members
• Maintaining strong governance, audit readiness and statutory compliance
• Working with fellow senior leaders to solve problems together and keep the business commercially sound

About you

• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills
• Experience running a full finance function in a growing business
• Experience overseeing or implementing purchasing and procurement processes
• A systems and process mindset, with excellent attention to detail
• A confident communicator with senior stakeholders
• Experience in an operational or multi-site environment
• Experience improving systems and automating finance processes
• Familiarity with ERP systems
