InsurX is seeking a Financial Controller to ensure accurate reporting and scale financial operations as the business grows. This in-house, full-time role in the UK offers a competitive salary and builds on a strong foundation in accounting and controls.

You will own month-end close, consolidation, VAT, payroll, and statutory filings while ensuring compliance with HMRC and Companies House. Prior experience in tech and audits is mandatory.

Formación

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent mandatory.
• Minimum 2 years experience in financial accounting, controlling and reporting in a fast-growing tech company.
• Experience with audits or involvement in audits required.
• Experience with accounting software (Xero preferred).
• Able to use AI to optimise finance processes and handle large data in Excel.

Responsabilidades

• Develop and implement scalable financial processes, controls and policies using AI and automation.
• Manage month-end close, reconciliations, journals and consolidation across subsidiaries.
• Coordinate with external accountants, advisors and HMRC.
• Own monthly management reporting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Oversee revenue recognition, cash collection and partner payments with data teams.
• Handle quarterly VAT, monthly payroll and year-end statutory accounts.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC, Companies House and German entity filing.
• Lead technical accounting topics with advisors (revenue recognition, share-based payments).
• Improve reporting and insights for the business.

The Role

We're looking for a Financial Controller to ensure accurate reporting of our numbers and help us scale our financial operations to support a growing business, ultimately to drive better decision making.

This is a full-time, in-house position.

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000

What You'll Do

• Develop, implement and improve strong financial processes, controls and policies that can scale with the business using AI and other automation tools
• Manage the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end journals and consolidation (across several subsidiaries)
• Manage external accountants and advisors, and liaise with HMRC
• Own the monthly management information reporting including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
• Run our revenue recognition, cash collection and partner payments process alongside our Data Science and Revenue Operations teams
• Manage and process quarterly VAT returns, monthly payroll and the year-end statutory accounts process
• Ensure compliance with HMRC, Companies House and German entity filing requirements
• Lead our technical accounting alongside advisors on topics like revenue recognition, share-based payments, and consolidation
• Continue to improve reporting and insights that Finance provide the rest of the business

What We're Looking For

• You are ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent [Mandatory]
• You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in financial accounting, controlling and reporting within a fast-growing tech company
• You have worked as an auditor or have been closely involved in financial audits [Mandatory]
• You have experience with an accounting software program (ideally Xero)
• You have used AI to build and improve new and existing finance operations processes to either improve output quality or speed up deliveryYou are comfortable working with large sets of data in Excel
• You have experience with consolidations, intercompany eliminations and foreign exchange
• You're a self-starter who is not afraid to challenge the status quo or find new ways of doing things
• You're data-driven with a high attention to detail and are comfortable with working in a constantly changing environment
• You're a team player with a positive attitude, even when facing big challenges / obstacles
• You're not afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone and enjoy partnering with the business to drive accountability and better decision making

Nice to have

• You're at ease with technical accounting topics, analysis and bringing a company's financials in line with UK GAAP / IFRS
• You have experience in the insurance industry
