Job summary

CMG, a London-based financial services organisation, is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the finance function, combining hands-on financial leadership with process improvement and team management. The role reports to the COO and Board and shapes the finance function during a transformative growth phase.

The ideal candidate is ACA/CA qualified with 5+ years in financial control, with a track record in audits and safeguarding/client money regulations.

Qualifications

• ACA/CA qualified or equivalent with post-qualification experience.
• 5+ years post-qualified financial control experience.
• Trained within a leading audit or accountancy practice.
• Understanding of safeguarding requirements, client money regulations and/or foreign exchange operations.
• Strong technical accounting, reporting and controls expertise covering FCA and Safeguarding environments.
• Track record of systems improvement, finance transformation or process optimisation.
• Experience presenting financial information to senior stakeholders and boards.
• Previous team leadership and people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of financial control, reporting and month-end close.
• Produce management accounts, board reporting and performance analysis.
• Provide oversight of safeguarding, client money controls and FX-related financial reporting requirements.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance and regulatory reporting processes.
• Manage the annual audit and external stakeholder relationships.
• Improve finance systems, processes and reporting capabilities.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning.
• Lead and develop a small finance team.
• Partner with operational, commercial and compliance teams across the business.
• Support business growth initiatives, operational scalability and strategic projects.
