Job summary

Michael Page partners with a fast-paced logistics and supply chain business in Cambridgeshire to appoint a commercially minded Financial Controller. The role reports to the Finance Director and will own the day-to-day finance function, ensuring robust financial control and accurate reporting across the organisation.

You will lead the finance team, apply FRS 102, and drive performance and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment, providing clear financial insight for key business decisions.

Qualifications

• Active membership of ACA, ACCA or CIMA is required.
• Post-qualification experience in a busy accounting environment.
• In-depth practical knowledge of FRS 102.
• Strong experience in financial control and financial reporting.
• Ability to review financial information carefully and meet reporting deadlines.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting and effective business partnering across the organisation.

This is a highly visible leadership role combining financial control, team management, commercial insight and process improvement within a dynamic and fast-moving environment.

Description

• Manage the day-to-day financial control activities for the Accounting & Finance department, ensuring records are complete and reliable.
• Prepare accurate financial reports that give clear visibility of business performance.
• Apply practical knowledge of FRS 102 when producing and reviewing financial information.
• Maintain strong accounting processes to support consistent and timely reporting.
• Review financial data, identify issues and take action to improve accuracy.
• Work closely with relevant colleagues to provide clear financial insight for business decisions.
• Oversee the preparation of financial information for internal use, keeping deadlines on track.
• Ensure accounting activity is carried out in line with recognised financial reporting requirements.
• Lead and develop the finance team, driving performance and continuous improvement

Profile

A successful 'Financial Controller' should have:

• Full qualification with active membership of ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
