Job summary

AD Finance is seeking a commercially minded Financial Accountant to join a Leicestershire-based distribution business on a pivotal finance role. You will own key accounting activities, produce management accounts, manage cash flow, VAT, and balance sheet reconciliations while supporting senior leadership and growth initiatives.

The role offers exposure to senior leadership, opportunities to influence processes, and a clear progression path towards Financial Controller.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Minimum two years' post-qualified experience within industry.
• Strong financial accounting experience.
• Experience in a medium-sized, fast-paced business.
• Excellent ERP systems knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Produce management accounts through to final review stage with detailed commentary.
• Manage cashflow and support working capital management.
• Own VAT compliance and reporting.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Act as the ERP systems expert for the finance team.
• Review accruals, prepayments and journal postings.
• Oversee Accounts Payable to ensure efficiency.
• Partner with operational teams for timely invoicing.
• Review Accounts Receivable with Credit Manager.
• Manage intercompany balances and cross-charge agreements.
• Review payment runs and maintain robust controls.
• Produce monthly forecasts and support annual budgets.
• Assist with audits and relationships with third-party advisors.
• Resolve complex accounting issues.
• Support finance and business improvement projects.
• Assist with development and management of finance team members.
