Job summary

Goodman Masson is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team in Greater London. The role offers ownership of stock accounting, VAT, payroll and month-end tasks, with close collaboration with commercial and operational teams to turn numbers into insight.

You will own stock controls, lead cashflow forecasting, review VAT and payroll processes, and support budgets, audits and system improvements in a product-led environment.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Two years' finance experience in a stock-based or product-led environment.
• Strong stock controls, landed costs and stock valuation understanding.
• Experience preparing VAT returns and reconciling to the ledger.
• Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Dynamics is a plus.
• Clear explanations of financial information to non-finance colleagues.
• Proactive mindset for AI-assisted automation of routine work.

Responsibilities

Job description

We're partnering with a well-established, growing product-led business that's looking for a Financial Accountant to join its finance team at an exciting point in its journey. This is a varied, hands-on role with real ownership. You'll sit at the heart of the finance function, keeping strong control over stock, VAT, payroll and month-end, and working closely with commercial and operational teams to turn the numbers into insight.

What you'll be doing

• Owning stock accounting, reporting and integrity controls, including reviewing adjustments and variances and getting to the root cause
• Leading the stock cashflow forecast, working with commercial teams to understand plans, commitments and timing
• Preparing VAT returns and reconciling VAT control accounts to the ledger
• Reviewing monthly payroll and associated journals and reconciliations
• Completing month-end balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining the fixed asset register
• Reviewing cost-centre performance against budget, partnering with budget holders and preparing management commentary
• Supporting budgets, forecasts and ad hoc analysis to inform decision-making
• Supporting audit, system developments and process improvements, with a real chance to challenge how things are done

What you'll bring

• Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least two years' relevant finance experience
• Strong financial or management accounting background, ideally in a stock-based, retail, wholesale or product-led environment
• Good understanding of stock controls, landed costs and stock valuation
• Experience preparing VAT returns and reconciling to the ledger
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with finance systems (Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus)
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
• A proactive, questioning mindset and comfort using AI tools to streamline and automate routine work
