Job summary

Sewell Wallis Limited is partnering with a large South Yorkshire manufacturing business in Sheffield to recruit a Financial Accountant. You will report to the Financial Controller and support day-to-day transactional and management accounting, delivering accurate financial reporting and robust month-end close.

Key duties include balance sheet reconciliations, AR/AP reviews, VAT reporting, budgets and forecasts, and assisting audits.

Qualifications

• Must have strong group accounting experience and IFRS compliance.
• Proven track record in financial accounting and reporting.
• Excellent communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Regular reviews of AR & AP ledgers and reporting.
• Assist with month-end close, including inventories and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure accuracy of ledgers and drive improvements in systems/processes.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and VAT reporting.
• Support internal and external audits and business planning.

Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day transactional and management accounting function for the business and will directly support with all aspects of management accounting and financial reporting.

What will you be doing?

• Regular reviews and reporting of AR & AP ledger balances
• Assist with full month end close process, including management accounts, inventory valuations, balance sheet reconciliations and all other reporting, ensuring completion within strict group reporting deadlines
• Oversee the accuracy and integrity of the accounting ledgers
• Regularly review finance systems and processes, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and data accuracy
• Assist with preparation and reporting of budgets & forecasts
• HMRC Reporting, including submission of VAT reporting
• Support with various internal and external audit requirements
• Support delivery of departmental business plan
• Provide adequate cover to the Financial Controller as necessary

What skills do we need?

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (will consider PQE)
• Experience within a group structured entity
• Significant demonstrable financial accounting experience
• Adherence to IFRS accounting standards
