Financial Accountant - 16-month Fixed Term Contract

FryerMiles is working with a global petroleum company to recruit a Financial Accountant for a 16-month fixed-term contract based in their Central London offices.

The successful candidate will handle a range of duties, gaining exposure to various issues and engaging with the wider business. This role is suitable for a driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced growth environment and is eager to support the finance team’s expanding needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Banking and Treasury

• Prepare and send weekly treasury reports, including cash position waterfall and detailed movement analysis.
• Manage deposit accounts to optimize interest profit.
• Oversee interest rate and foreign exchange risk management.

Monthly Financial Close

• Manage daily accounts payable operations for two entities in London.
• Maintain weekly spend reports and accounts payable graphs.
• Ensure timely entry of FX rates in the accounting system.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Assist in analyzing monthly direct costs and weekly cash flows.
• Update and distribute monthly budget vs. actual forecasts for review.
• Coordinate quarterly meetings with Heads of Department to discuss accruals and spend.
• Support G&A budgets and reforecasts as needed.

External Reporting

• Assist with audit queries during half-year, year-end, and JV audits.

Taxation

• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.
• Calculate and submit PSA and P11D submissions.

Other Responsibilities

• Ensure consistency of accounts payable practices across locations.
• Identify and lead process improvements and control enhancements.
• Act as the first point of contact for AP-related queries and issue resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

• Studying towards ACCA or similar qualification.
• Degree in Finance or Accounting is desirable.
• Experience in upstream oil and gas sector is a plus.
• Previous accounts payable management experience.
• Experience with deposits, cash management, and banking relationships.
